Mt. Bachelor Ski, Board,Tubing & More!

Mt. Bachelor Free Ski Day: February 1, 2008 (with donation of 3 canned goods)

In many parts of the world "snow" is a four-letter word...but in Central Oregon it's a synonym for "fun"! Once is arrives in the nearby mountains in November, you can ski it, board it, telemark it, tube it, skate it, throw it, sled dog it, even build a cozy shelter out of it--all the way through May.

The focal point for many of these activities is a solitary mountain called Bachelor. Mt. Bachelor Ski and Summer Resort has one of the longest winter seasons for downhill skiing and snowriding in North America, as well as the #1 lift system voted by readers of Ski Magazine on multiple occasions. Groomed cross-country trails, sled-dog rides, half-pipe and a snowboard park full of rails and other challenges are also a part of Mt. Bachelor's famous ski resort.

Snowblast Tubing Park:
Located between the Ski and Sport building and the bottom of the Red Lift, experience the snow like never before! Snowblast Tubing Park, where the rubber meets the snow, is full of fun with an 800 foot ride full of rollers. Our surface lifts are built with the latest technology to pull you up the slope comfortably and quickly.

Sled Dog Rides:
Trail of Dreams is operated and owned by Jerry Scdoris and his daughter Rachael. Rachael is a world renowned athlete and had her first Iditarod finish in 2006. Riding with Jerry, Rachael and their athletic team of dogs is a unique and majestic experience. Imagine gliding over the snow, taking in the sights of Central Oregon... snow-covered Broken Top, the Three Sisters and Mt. Bachelor... from the comfort of an Iditarod Dog Sled.

The Big Eddy Thriller Raft Trip

Deschutes River Rafting on the Big Eddy Thriller With Sun Country Tours
The forested beauty of the Upper Deschutes River provides a natural paradise for rafting, hiking, and observing bird and wildlife. We are floating through the beautiful Deschutes National Forest, where the flows of lava from Lava Lands National Monument shaped the Deschutes River over 7,000 years ago. Towering ponderosa pines and quaking aspens cover the landscape.
The three-mile Deschutes River rafting adventure begins at Aspen - an old logging camp that's now residence for cattails, blackbirds, and excited rafters! After a flat water training session with your guide, your journey will get underway with some warm-up rapids. These first riffles are rated Class 1 and 2 (based on a scale from 1 to 6, with 6 being the most difficult).
At the halfway point in the trip, you'll pull over to scout the Big Eddy Rapids. After viewing, with your raft guide, the various drop, turns and waves, we will regroup in the raft and challenge this great stretch of river. You will negotiate Kenmore, (Class 3) a drop with a washing machine action. Next you will power through the Notch (Class 3) and ride the white flume past the bat cave. Get ready and dig in because the Souse Hole (Class 3) is just ahead.
Bust through this terrific reversal with a smile because their photographer will get three action photos of you - wet, dry, or screaming! The standing waves will carry you around the corner and set us up for Old Stogie (Class 3) which is the last of the Big Eddy Rapids.
The Roller Coaster Rapids (Class 2) will spill you out into the swimming hole, where relaxation is the name of the game. Their guides will carefully direct your raft to the take out just above Lava Island Falls. With Paddles in hand and lifejackets on, you may pause to take a photo with the beautiful Deschutes River as a backdrop.
This Deschutes River rafting trip is enjoyable for the entire family. Younger children need not paddle if they so choose.
